Looking for good bead stores in Grande Prairie. Ooh and bubble tea. [Apr. 20th, 2010|03:46 pm]
Northern British Columbia

I know it's technically in AB, but many people from the Peace go there to shop.
I'm looking for hematite beads.  I already know about Micheals.
Can anyone recommend any stores to check out?

I also like to browse in those new-age type places.  Also wouldn't mind stopping in at the best bubble teas place in town. XD

Looking for Summer Place! [Apr. 17th, 2007|05:42 pm]
Northern British Columbia

[Current Location |Victoria]

Hey there guys,

I'm looking for a place to rent in Burns Lake for the summer. Nothing fancy, just a place to stay for May to end of August. If it was close to the Ministry of Forest office that would be even better! I'm having a tough time finding anything as I'm in Victoria but any leads would be great.
A little about me: 20 year old female, grew up in northern bc, quiet, clean, and responsible. I come with top-notch references and I'm fully employed. If it was a place that accepted a sedate, old, indoor cat as well, that would great too(though it's not a requirement).
If you know of anyone in the area or any good sites, let me know by posting here or emailing me: moondance_sway at hotmail.com
Thanks in advance. :)

Live Music? [Mar. 15th, 2007|02:54 pm]
Northern British Columbia

Hi everyone, I'm trying to plan a Northern BC tour - where in your cities do they host live music? (We're flexible - we'll be heading for the Kispiox festival, so anything along the way...) Probably the large theatre kind of venue wouldn't work, we're not quite that well known yet ;O) But any cafes or halls or places that people will go to see a good show would be fantastic! The internet searches haven't been helping me very much!

Thanks for your help...

Places to rent in Dawson Creek? [Aug. 30th, 2006|05:11 pm]
Northern British Columbia

So I'm in the position to be moving to Dawson Creek soon... very soon. Like, within the next 2 weeks soon.
And while hotel living with maids would be nice, I am looking for a suite/apartment/place to rent. Problem is that I'm currently in Vancouver and won't have a chance to visit the city until I move.

Anyone know of any websites I could check out with places for rent in the city? Links to local papers? Leads on apartment buildings or basement suites? What is the rental market like there?

Any help would be much appreciated!

So many questions! [Feb. 14th, 2006|08:01 pm]
Northern British Columbia

hello community =)

I'm planning on moving to PG for the summer as I'm going to start school at UNBC in September. I'm moving in May/June because I'll need a job for the summer and I'm guessing it will be easier to find work in PG than in Victoria (where I am now) and plus it will be nice to already be settled before classes start.

My question(s) are:
How hard is it to find a job in PG? I have experience in retail, food service (no squirrel though), and SO MUCH with children.

How much can I expect for a one bedroom rental rate? I don't want to live in anywhere fancy but no where too sketch either... basement suites if there is a lot of light are just fine.

What areas should I stay away from? And, what areas are good to live if I'm going to be going to UNBC (I will have a car but I'd rather not have to drive too much).

Finally, is anyone in this community in the PDP program or planning on going into it in September? If all goes well I'll be in the Elementary Ed program.

I know these questions were kinda asked recently but I wanted to ask them myself.

Thank you!

(no subject) [Feb. 9th, 2006|03:41 pm]
Northern British Columbia

Hi, everyone. This group looks pretty dead, but I'll try anyway.

I'm from Victoria, finishing up my undergraduate degree in Ontario, and thinking of doing my graduate degree at UNBC. Unfortunately, I've never been to Prince George, or any northern town other than Bella Bella. I'm wondering if you guys could tell me a little about it.

A) I've heard it's pretty much just red necks. Is this actually true, or just one of those dumb stereotypes?

B) What is the bus system like? I don't have a car, and would really rather not buy one. Is life without a car possible there?

C) What's the university itself like? In particular, what's the Natural Resources department like?

D) This is a little lame, but how easy is it to socialize there? I won't know anyone, the lab I'll be joining is small, and to top it all off I'm sort of shy. Is it hard to get to know people there? Easy? This is the first university I've seen without a LJ community, so that doesn't bode well.

If anyone takes the time to read and reply to this, thanks a bunch!
